Packing a busy bag for the airplane

Honestly, I am a procrastinator to the 10th degree. I usually panic 2 days before our trip because I don’t have everything together and organized. I am determined this time that Dakota will be prepared and entertained on the flight. It will be a 5 hour flight to California, so Im pulling out all of the tricks!

Thankfully I know she will be easier to entertain this time around, She likes watching show’s, playing with toys and eating special snacks. As long as I keep those things coming she will be pretty happy.

Her school backpack will come in handy as a carry on flight bag. I have a diaper bag/ backpack for my carry on. It has insulted compartments for her cups and I will be using it during our trip as her diaper bag. Ill just pack the empty cups she will need on the trip in my bag. I love the bag because it has so many compartments. My bag is linked here.

Toddler Carry-On “Busy Bag” for the Airplane

This is the most essential part of traveling with a toddler! We need all of the entertainment now that she is 2 years old. I will be using this school backpack for all of her surprise fun!

In the front pouch I’ll have some sugar-free suckers and snacks. I found these Minnie Mouse snack bags at Dollar General the other day! She will be really happy that Minnie is on the snack bags, so whatever I put in there will be a hit.

Inside of the bag I have all of the entertainment! Dollar General had a ton of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

  1. Mess free markers coloring book (Mickey Mouse)
  2. Sticker activity book ( She loves stickers)
  3. Flashcards ( She is very into identifying everything right now)
  4. PuppyPet ( I know the dog toy has 10 pieces, but I really won’t worry about her losing parts since it cost me $3!)
  5. At the top are some anti bacterial wipes, which are essential for wiping the whole area down
  6. Max the Minnow book is a new to her hand me down from her cousin
  7. NOT PICTURED- window clings, small bag of Minnie snap on clothes & her favorite Minnie figurines (of course!)
  8. Last but not least, the iPad which will most definitely be used on our 5 hour flight! I’m going to load it with shows that she will like by downloading them on Netflix. I also got these headphones for her, which I hope will help with distractions.

We are bringing her bento box and lunch bag packed with strawberries, apple, oranges and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This will be a 5+ hour flight, so we definitely need all of the snack options! I am packing her animal crackers, Grab the Gold bars, freeze dried strawberries, breakfast cookies, Mickey veggies chips and applesauces pouches. She probably won’t eat all of these, but they will come in handy in California too.
