Ive heard this statement more than one time, thats for sure! I get it though, If you hear about a product thats more on the natural side you tend to think, but does it actually work? Im guilty of this too! I’m hear to tell you that YES it does work and it performs better in many ways than the previous color line I used!

Organic Colour Systems is the name of the line I have been using for almost 6 years. It covers grey very well, delivers beautiful blonde results and can make your hair any color of the rainbow! The best part, I am giving a safer alternative to traditional hair color to my clients and protecting myself from breathing in toxic chemicals everyday.

After being with Aveda for 7 years and working in commission based salons I was ready for a change. I started seeking out a place to go open my own salon suite. Knowing that I couldn’t use Aveda anymore, I started seeking out a natural hair color line. I was also slowly developing a sensitivity to ammonia. I ignored it for awhile, but after moving states and being away from coloring hair for a couple months it was very apparent. I would have a hard time breathing and it would take my voice away while trying to talk with my clients. Very weird! While researching/googling I stumbled upon Organic Colour Systems. It is a vegan, non-toxic hair color and product line made in Great Britain. It is ammonia-free, PPD and PTD free too. The standards for product safety are higher in Europe, so I was very intrigued and also skeptical!

Below is a list of Organic Colour Systems ethics and morals-

We believe.

Reliability. Respect. Integrity. Transparency.

These values are at the centre of who we are and what we do. They represent our attitude, our decisions and our actions to set the rules by which we conduct our business…

• Animals should not suffer for beauty
• Maintain the highest quality and safety standards
• Manufacture products that are healthier for you, your staff and your clients
• Manufacture products with respect and responsibility

How great is that?!

The first thing that amazed me, there was NO smell! At least no chemical smell, it has a sweet licorice scent. Once I got the hang of it and figured out all of the differences I was so happy I made the switch! Any stylists out there reading this, you can do it too. If you’re scared, I get it because I was terrified. If you are contemplating it, just do it. There are many videos and resources out there to help you.

I have made so many changes in my eating and lifestyle over the past 6 years since meeting my husband. He is a personal trainer so a healthy lifestyle and organic foods were natural for him. I started learning so much about food and healthy lifestyle choices which made me want to apply that to all areas of my life. Don’t get me wrong, we still eat out once in awhile and I still use some drugstore makeup. That is why I believe life is a balance! Im going to always try eliminating as many harmful chemicals, toxins and junk food that I can. I love that hair color and hair products aren’t another toxin that I’m exposing my clients and myself to anymore!
